Trish’s Team of Class Instructors

Elaine Edmondson

Elaine has worked for MAD academy since 2005, teaching very successful classes in the Wokingham area and Trish is delighted that Elaine now shares some of her MAD magic across the Reading area too.

Elaine discovered MAD Academy when looking for a class for her daughter, Caitlin, and they both enjoyed them so much, she became a teacher! She began singing and dancing at a young age, and danced with the Devon Dance company, before attending the Sylvia Young Theatre School.

Elaine spent many happy years working as a Butlins Redcoat and Costume Performer, appearing as both ‘Noddy’ and ‘Big Ears’ in Toyland, before moving to Berkshire.

Rebecca Holder

Rebecca has been dancing since the age of 3. She attended the Royal Ballet associates for 4 years and qualified at London Studio Centre obtaining a foundation degree in Performing Arts; whilst there Rebecca trained in a variety of different styles including, ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, street, commercial, hip hop, lindy hop, jazz partnering, lyrical and pointe work. Rebecca performed in ‘Coppelia’ with the Royal Ballet Company and has also toured the UK in ‘The Jazz Company’ directed by Petra Siniawski (Director of West End Wicked). She has also completed training in ISTD ballet, tap and Modern, RAD Ballet and a DDI in ISTD modern. Since graduating Rebecca has enjoyed teaching a range of different styles in London, Reading and Cheltenham.  Rebecca has also been teaching a Pre School Dance group called Tiny Tribes.  Rebecca has recently relocated from London to Reading and she is a very talented addition to the MAD Academy team of teachers.

Lucy Seymour

Lucy Seymour – Lucy has been singing and dancing since the age of 6. She obtained O’level Music, Grade 8 singing and and since moving to Reading has been involved in many local theatre companies having performed principal roles (such as Nancy in Oliver! and Helen in Half a Sixpence)and directed both children and adults. She is also a licenced chaperone for children in theatre.

She graduated from Reading University with a Masters Degree in Medical statistics. She worked as a statistician whilst continuing dancing, singing, directing and performing. She also teaches maths to private students. After having her two children, Jacob and Anna, she went back to her office job. Now that they are starting secondary school she decided it was time for a change and for her to do something that combines her love of working with children, education and music by teaching with MAD.

Lucy now brings her bubbly personality and beautiful singing voice to the MAD Academy classes in Burghfield and Woodley.

Lindsay Howard

Lindsay began her career in Dance and Fitness from the early age of 15 when she began teaching ‘Dance/Keep Fit’ to the parents from my local dancing school in Manchester. In her early 20s she completed my teaching Qualifications in ISTD Modern Dance and RAD Ballet then she then began working in the dance and fitness industry. Since that time she has moved around the UK and Ireland (including 4 years in Reading 1992-1996) and increased her qualifications and experience substantially; working in private Health and Fitness Clubs, council run Leisure Centres, private and public schools and leading Dance Academies, teaching both children and adults in Dance and Fitness.

Lindsay returned to Reading in September this year after almost 20 years away. She met up again with a good friend our very own Lucy Seymour, who introduced her to the MAD Academy. Lindsay loved the concept immediately! She has always loved ‘passing on’ her passion of music and dance. MAD Academy offers that, and so much more. Lindsay couldn’t wait to become part of the team”

“I would just like to say over the last 8 years MAD Academy has been part of our family life. We will miss coming to the weekly sessions. Both Thomas and Oscar have enjoyed themselves thoroughly, learning and having fun all the way. Even after 8 years Thomas still remembers coming to MAD lessons and being your little sidekick at the front. Oscar is like it with Lucy now.
The team and you should be immensely proud of what you all do, bringing such enjoyment and learning opportunities into young children’s life. Doing learning through play is the best way; the songs are fabulous from the old ones that everyone knows to the new ones which are really catchy especially – Ralph at the beach and the water cycle one. I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thankyou to you and your team. Keep up the excellent work you all do.”

“Lucy is wonderful – I enjoy her baby sessions and her walker sessions for the Children’s Centre. She has lots of energy and the children (and babies) like and listen to her which makes for a successful enjoyable session all round!”

“The kids are enjoying the new educational elements at MAD. The sessions help me greatly with my developmental observations as they cover so many aspects of the EYFS. Keep up the good work!”

“Rebecca is really good fun and the children respond very well to her.”

“We’ve been to a few different baby classes but this is definitely the best. Thomas loves running around and listening to music and so this is the perfect class for an active toddler! Elaine is great with the children and I love the way she always individually praises the children.”

“Edie still loves MAD. Last week we pulled up in the car park and she said “let me out, I’m sooo excited!!!!”

Edie’s mum

“Darcy and I are fairly new to the sessions but have enjoyed every single one! Darcy was only 3 months when she started and I thoroughly believe she has benefited from the activities and meeting other babies. Thank you to Elaine who is wonderful at what she does and is so lovely!”

“Flo has loved the class. It is well structured, encourages language and numeracy skills and is totally age appropriate. The variety of activities and music/songs has allowed Flo to develop her love of music. Lucy is an excellent teacher and Ralph the teddy bear is a great hit as are the stickers.”

Mum of Vijoleta

“Sadly, Laura is coming to the end of her time at the MAD Academy. She has really enjoyed the classes since she was 3 years old. We think the classes are just fab – they are energetic (a work out for Mums too!) and their success is due to the sheer enthusiasm that class leader Trish puts into them. You can’t help joining in. We will miss the classes very much.”

Mum of Laura

“Absolutely Brilliant. Olivia hasn’t tired of it and is so excited on Monday mornings. Jude is lovely and so calm and gentle with the children. A resounding success.”

“Brilliant classes always fun-filled and action packed! It has given my daughter more confidence and she loves the music and her MAD CD has to be played on EVERY car journey accompanied by lots of singing.”
