How it works

The song guides the children to play their instruments in a particular way fast or slow.

What to do in the class

Allow the children to choose an instrument from the box and explain they are going to learn to play in a fast and slow way. As you explain this to the children, demonstrate what fast sounds like and what slow sounds like with your own instrument and get the children to join in with you.

Don’t be afraid to make the contrast of tempo dramatic – it makes it more fun and helps the children to understand the conceptual difference.

Now play one of the songs below, with the children playing along with you.

  • Play With The Rhythm
  • Instrument Time Song – fast and slow
  • Everybody Do This
