MAD Academy Wokingham
I Hi 👋 I am Amanda And I run MAD Academy in Wokingham and the surrounding areas. As well as running fun, high energy classes for children and parents, I also provide sessions in nurseries and children’s centres and can bring a touch of MADness to children’s parties.
Autumn/winter term 2019
Monday 9 September to Thursday 12 December 2019
You are welcome to join us at any point during the term, it would be great to see you
No class during week of 28 October
Week beginning 16 December is our party week so if your preschool, mother and toddler group or nursery want a party please contact me now to avoid disappointment. We can do Christmas parties during the week of 9 December if there is availability
What can we learn?
As well as lots of singing and dancing to get them moving MAD Academy classes also help your child develop in eight key areas of learning, which are aligned to the government’s Early Years Learning Framework. What we will be focusing on will depend on the age of your child but it might include:
- Musicality – we introduce the children to things such as rhythm, pitch, voice control, dynamics or instruments
- Listening & Communication – we focus on different aspects of good listening and speaking skills
- Motor skills – we use props to develop things like spatial awareness, ball skills, finger control, gross motor co-ordination etc.
- Knowledge of the world – we learn about the water cycle, food, the beach, and even our bodies.
- Numeracy – we use music and song to learn early numeracy skills, counting, or matching colours and shapes
- Phonics – for our older children, we start making them aware of early phonic sounds in a fun and physical way
- And of course, we help children develop those fundamental social skills as we all enjoy coming together in our class and making friends.

I have been taking my 2 and a half year to the Saturday morning class at Winnersh for over a term now. He is shy and quiet at times but doesn't stop talking about his music class all week and really looks forward to it! Amanda is warm, energetic, enthusiastic and very approachable. The classes are fun and relaxed (the tunes sick in your head!) and no competitiveness which I have experienced at other bigger classes. Well worth giving it a try, its a great way to spend time with your child and they'll learn loads Sally – Rufus mum
My daughter absolutely LOVES mad academy? It's the highlight of her week and I'm constantly being asked if its on today. The activities change each week which keeps it exciting for the little ones. Amanda moves quickly from song/activity to the next so my daughters attention never waivers which is a miracle for a 2 year old! It's high energy and lots of fun – would definitely recommend it. Jenny from Binfield – Elsie mum
My son and I thoroughly enjoy MAD Academy classes; not only do we have lots of fun but it's made notable developmental advancements i.e. enhancing listening skills and the ability to follow instructions, learning about rhythm, a range of musical sounds and dance as well as other educational skills through games. Amanda is a natural with the children and they love her – she is good fun and has a gentle approach – allowing children to go at their pace in an unhurried and unpressurised environment. I recommend these classes to all. Zac's mum
"It was great to have a variety of ways to engage with the children such as the bean bags, parachutes, balls and musical instruments!" Sarah
We had a 4th birthday party for my son in Sandhurst. Amanda kept 20 children aged 2-6 completely engaged and having fun for well over an hour. Every parent in the room was so impressed! Brilliant!!! Laura – Callun’s mum
MAD academy is lovely for all kids. Amanda came.to our preschool and managed to engage 30 kids between the ages of 18m and 7 years all in one go. Such a lovely lady and such good fun for the kids! Catherine – Emmbrook preschool
I am a Nanny in Wokingham and I take the little boy I look after to the Thursday session at 10.30am in Bracknell, and he just LOVES it!!! He is always so excited when I say 'it's mad academy today'!! He really enjoy the class with Amanda, she is so lovely and enthusiastic always makes everything so fun in class, she is very good at reading the children if they have particularly enjoyed something she can adapt the lesson so well. My little one learns something new every week, he listens and copies following Amanda's instructions so well which is so so lovely to see, We think Amanda is great and we always look forward to coming! I really can't rate Mad Academy high enough, I did previous classes with the elder sister of my little one now which was 6 yrs ago and I love it just as much now as i did then!! If you're looking for a fun, energetic, music, and dance class with added learning skills to be learnt then this is the class!!!! Emma
My daughter Ruby has really enjoyed her MAD Academy sessions. Having started them as a young baby, it has been great watching her learn and develop each week. She loves every aspect of the class from exploring new items in the sensory bags to having a jig along to the music. Although her absolute favourite part has to be kisses with Ralph! Leanne

Lucy had a fantastic party and all the parents thought you did a brilliant job entertaining her and all of her friends. It was great to be able to enjoy the party and leave it to you to run the entertainment which was exactly what we were looking for. We would very happily recommend you to our friends and family and thank you again for helping to make Lucy's party such a lovely afternoon.
10 December 2015 We had Amanda run a session at our son's christening party and all the children (aged 1-11) enjoyed themselves and I even think the parents including myself had fun too. My husband said it was the best money he had spent. Thanks again Amanda for helping make this a special day.
For the last 2 years now, we have asked Amanda at MAD Academy to come to our son’s birthday parties to entertain the children. This year our theme was “Pirates” and Amanda did a great job of putting together lots of pirate themed activities such as songs and a mini treasure assault course. She even dressed up as a pirate as did Ralph the MAD Academy Bear! The parachute at the end is always a favourite with the children too. We had a happy group of 13 three and four year olds who had a fantastic time and slept well that night!
What more could children want! Thanks for putting together such a great Mad Academy birthday party for Kayla – she and her friends had such a great time and you did a fantastic job of getting into the 'Princes & Princesses' theme she had chosen. You catered for all the ages at the party & it was nice and varied, with great music, instruments, activities & bubbles…
Linda – Kayla mum – aged 4
Thanks for making Ben’s 3rd birthday party so much fun for both the children and the parents. We had lots of compliments from the parents on how much they enjoyed the party. It was lovely to see Ben and his friends running around singing, dancing and playing instruments. It was great to have a variety of ways to engage with the children such as the bean bags, parachutes, balls and musical instruments. I would definitely recommend a MAD Academy party to anyone considering fun ways to entertain their child and their friends!
Amanda came to entertain 25 children for my daughters 4th birthday party. My daughter asked for princess and pirates and amanda made sure she had a fantastic time. We couldn't have asked for a better entertainer
Amanda hosted my daughters 3rd Birthday Party this weekend. She had her party with 3 of her NCT Friends which resulted in 31 children!!!! Amanda checked in with me before the party to see if we had a theme so she could prepare her party to coincide with our theme and she asked if we had fav songs etc. On the day she was amazing, she had all the kids joining in with her and had everything under control. After her hour was up, we did pass the parcel and had forgotten our stereo – without hesitation she said don't worry I'll stay and do the music so she went above and beyond what she was paid to do. We all had an amazing time and would definitely use her again. Thank you Amanda xx Suzy – Ellie's mum
