- Your choice of song
Marvellous Machine Spring 2016
I touch my Nose – Spring 2016
At least two weeks for each song
How it works
These specially written songs are designed to get children repeating both the lyrics and melody in a call and response format which is really easy for the children to grasp and very fun and engaging to do.
Choose one of the following songs to sing in class.
• Marvellous Machines
• Space Rocket
• I Touch My Toes
What to do in the class
When introducing the song, explain that we are trying to teach the children to control their voices and therefore vocal participation is really important.
Set the scene for the parents before starting e.g
- Marvellous Machines – let the children and parents know that they are going to be joining in with making all the noises from the Marvellous machine.
- Space – let the children and parents know they are going for a journey in a space rocket. Let them know that they have to make all the noises with you too.
- Body Parts – explain we are going to make our bodies make lots of funny noises. Let them know that they have to make all the noises with you too.
As the children become familiar with the song and sound effects, start to test them to show you. For example say, what noise when I press the button?, What noise does my head make? etc.
Adaptations for older/younger children
Only expect the younger children to try and make the noises with you they will be less able to process the ‘storyline’ of the song.
What to do in a nursery setting
No adaptation necessary
